Dahl Family

I was honored to photograph the sweet Dahl family as they welcomed their newest edition, Isabel. We borrowed a friend’s beautiful spare room and captured these photos with the last couple hours of January sunlight one afternoon. Their color coordination was beautiful, and we caught so many sweet moments with their two precious babies.

One thing to keep in mind as a photographer, or even as a client planning your newborn session, is that giving yourself extra time is key. Newborn sessions can tend to be a little more lengthy, simply because babies operate on their own schedule! As a client, plan to bring your baby already fed and changed, but as your photographer, I will absolutely make time for feeding breaks during the session if needed. Especially if you have other kiddos, this is a perfect time to capture moments with them.

The baby is obviously the star of the show, but I also love capturing sweet moments between the parents that really highlight their love!

I maintain that some of the best photos are the unplanned, unposed ones. These three were almost entirely candid - a reminder to keep your eyes out for the little moments that happen organically during a session.
